The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle coin’s obverse showcases Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design of Lady Liberty striding forward, bearing a torch and an olive branch, set against a backdrop of the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays, and a circle of stars. Two designs have been featured on the reverse of the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coin: Miley Busiek’s eagle family, used until mid-2021, and Jennie Norris’ bald eagle portrait, adopted from mid-2021 onwards.
