1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf
The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins emerged as the first gold bullion investment option available to individual buyers, aside from the South African Krugerrand. The international community's economic sanctions against South Africa, in response to its apartheid policies, resulted in a widespread ban on importing Krugerrands. This created an opportunity for the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins to enter the market and meet investor demand. Over the years, these coins have become increasingly significant in the gold investment sector.
About The 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf
The reverse side of the 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coin displays the iconic sugar maple leaf, Canada's national symbol, and a fixture on its flag, which has adorned the coin since its debut in 1982. This design was crafted by Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) engravers. On the obverse, the coin has featured various portraits of Queen Elizabeth II: a depiction of her at age 39 from 1982 to 1989, a portrayal at age 64 from 1990 to 2004, and the final design by Susanna Blunt was introduced in 2005. In 2024, the coins began to bear the image of King Charles III, marking a new era for the coin's design.
