1 oz South African Gold Krugerrand
South Africa has established itself as a significant center for mining precious metals and gemstones. Boasting some of the world's most extensive gold reserves, it's unsurprising that this nation pioneered the release of a commemorative gold bullion coin, serving as a means to promote itself on the global stage.
About The 1 oz South African Gold Krugerrand
The South African Gold Krugerrand is the first bullion coin to be recognized as legal tender yet carries no face value. It debuted in 1967 with the likeness of Paul Kruger, the country's former four-term president, on the obverse. The reverse features the springbok, an emblematic South African antelope, in a design by Coert Steynberg that previously graced the five-shilling coin. Both sides of the coin include inscriptions in Afrikaans and English.
